Still Unbroken But a Lot’s Been Stolen / Saturday Open Thread

April 15, 2011 is just around the corner. There are a lot of tea party events planned tax day. We here at UP will provide information on local events set for that date. If you have information about an event in your area, post it in this thread.

Conservatives made a comeback in the last election but the real work lies ahead. We can really make a difference by working from inside the party. Go here. We can undo a whole lot of damage in November, 2012.

Conservatives: We aint broken. We aint done and we will take back a lot that’s been stolen:

texasgalt
Texas native. Conservative small businessman with 31 years experience. Government should roll back the nanny state. No country can tax its way to prosperity. The question isn't who will let me but who will stop me?

  1. Caterpillar may leave IL primarily for tax reasons (though surely the graft and corruption of the IL gov’t has had some effect).

    CEO Oberhelman quoted:

“I want to stay here. But as the leader of this business, I have to do what’s right for Caterpillar when making decisions about where to invest,” Oberhelman wrote in the letter obtained Friday by the Lee Enterprises Springfield bureau. “The direction that this state is headed in is not favorable to business and I’d like to work with you to change that.”

Oberhelman said he’s being actively courted to move.

“I have been called, ‘cornered’ in meetings and ‘wined and dined’ — the heat is on,” Oberhelman wrote. “Before, I never really considered living anywhere else and certainly never considered the possibility of Caterpillar relocating. But I have to admit, the policymakers in Springfield seem to make it harder by the day.”

Go figure. You mean sticking it to the man might make the man leave? Who’d have thought?

  2. A lot’s been stolen… What a title. But I stumbled upon a momentary relief. Y’all probably know it by heart but for Texasgalt, EPU, Street and all the Texas residents, as well as all my other friends here who are Texans at heart… Oh, and don’t leave out all the men like August McCrae who made America what it is… Enjoy!
