No, Haley, we shouldn’t proceed with the hysterical Global Warming economic destruction thingy

Did another “conservative icon” die (politically) yesterday? Haley Barbour seems to have hopped onto the park bench with Gingrich and Pelosi [emphasis mine];

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Potential presidential candidate Haley Barbour appears to be staking out a moderate position on global warming than some of his possible rivals, saying at an event in eastern Iowa on Friday that the country should “proceed in national policy as if global warming is actually happening.”

Barbour, who has consistently opposed regulation of the energy industry, made the comments in response to a question from an Iowa voter who asked the Mississippi governor whether he thought global warming was real.

“I think the prudent thing for us, when you consider the potential risk, the prudent thing is to proceed as if global warming is an issue,” Barbour said at a luncheon organized by a local Republican group, the Linn Eagles, “but we don’t have to destroy the American economy for no positive results to do that.”

He did say we shouldn’t destroy our economy to accomplish whatever “Climate Change” goals he seems to have in mind, but knowing that the goal for the left is economic destruction for the “First World” to bring all other worlds up to a “level playing field”, this is ground Barbour had better tread lightly.

The science is far from settled.

  1. Sometimes you have to be willing to shake people up a little bit, and sometimes you need to pretend that crazy people aren’t. Knowing which to do when is the politician’s art. Now I’m not politician and Haley is one of the best out there at the art, so I’ll cut him some slack. That doesn’t mean I like it.

    Old eagle eyes is watching, Gov. Barbour.

    • A few weeks ago, I thought HB was my man. This statement clarifies the fact that he is NOT my man. Not cutting slack on this evil fiction that is now documented as such with emails even after $4/gal gas and the recession killed any need to to make weasly, mealey-mouth statements about the old fetishes of an affluent society that could afford to indulge idiots.

      Haley drops way down my list now, despite his economic disclaimer. To continue to indulge idiots with this garbage doesn’t help the fight going on now with the EPA as they use this fiction to try and destroy the energy of this nation.

      When he says “…when you consider the potential risk, the prudent thing is to proceed as if global warming is an issue.” he gives ammo to the enemy. What potential risk? That we lose 50 feet of Manhattan?

      Half of SC was underwater 10,000 years ago before Chevys traversed the Earth. There is no risk to the Earth from CO2.

  2. I wondered how the candidates were going to handle the ethanol subsidy thingy we are all so against, while in Iowa. Wouldn’t have expected any of them to go all in on the Global Warming scam though. Barbour already lost me when it was revealed that he was paid by the Mexican government to lobby Congress on behalf of illegals.
