Google has been an issue for far too long and it is up to Congress to ensure that they are keeping with best business practices. The level of insider advantage that Google has had with this Administration is careening on the criminal. Senator Lee is asking for anti-trust oversight hearings I Couldn’t Agree More. The personal information that Google gathers is larger then our government gathers. What they do with that information has never been told to the public. That they have meetings consistently with Barack Obama and Company in the White House makes their collection of information all the more disturbing Disturbing.
In Google (GOOG, Fortune 500), the $22-billion-a-year online-advertising Goliath, Obama appears to have found a corporate kindred spirit. Google executives, led by CEO Eric Schmidt and co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, are scary smart and supremely self-confident (much like the President himself), and despite their company’s growing power, they depict themselves as advocates for consumers.
“What we shared is a belief in changing the world from the bottom up, not from the top down,” Obama told Google employees during a 2007 visit to its headquarters in Mountain View, Calif.
I don’t think businesses ought to be engaged with the President of the United States of America in “changing” America. This Country is fine and has been a fine Country for hundreds of years and does not require change. It requires a people who put Country above themselves. In Google and Obama neither have given much in that regards.
