HomePatriot DispatchesAnd so it begins.....

And so it begins…..

The looney left is already saying the Japanese earthquake was cause by Climate Change.

The mechanisms that caused this earthquake are reasonably well understood. The pacific plate shifted a bit under the Japanese coast causing a large displacement of water. This is a normal geologic process that’s been occurring for millions of years. And yet, the lefties can’t resist the urge to tie every natural disaster to their religion of anthropogenic global warming.

I’d say it’s unbelievable, but these people have no shame and will use anything to shift the public who may not be paying attention a point or 2 in their direction.

Udate: The article that I pointed to has been updated by its author to state that he doesn’t believe that THIS tsunami. was AGW induced. But even in his update he includes “In addition, climate change may cause tsunamis directly, so it’s possible we’ll someday see more images like this as a result.”

Fomenting fear, it’s how the progressives operate.

  1. That was almost the first thing that crossed my mind when I digested the initial news reports this morning, Brian– that they would try and put this one in their little bag of tricks, too. What a nasty mind you’d have to have to be willing to use the tragedy of an entire nation for your politically economic greed.

      • A renewal of calls not to build nuclear power plants comes to mind first. Since the quake is due to global warming and the quake has caused serious problems with exploding reactors and leakage… tell me how the left is not going to use it as an excuse to throw us back to the stone age?

On a less serious note, I’m glad hubby is on our side. He came up with an explanation of how the left could explain how global warming caused the quake. It sounds like something the left would say, too, and I fully expect somebody to do it.

  2. With the problems being reported about the Nuclear plants in Japan, you can rest assured that the Obama administration will use this as a reason to never approve another Nuclear plant in the US. Not sure they would ever have had any way.

      • Krauthammer is probably right, MrRiggio, especially in hot areas such as CA. This also unhinges some of Obama energy policy as I’m told they always had a nuclear option for their energy policy. The epilogue has not yet been written on the Japan plant…they plan and respond amazingly well..but for now, the hysteria well outpaces good sense.

        • Oh, I’m waiting for him to EO all the existing ones here closed. The way the EPA is shutting down coal mines, not issuing drilling permits as ordered by a LA judge, making it so miserable for Shell to get their air permits in AK they decided “the hell with it” and pulled out, he’ll wanna close the 2 near us because we’re in “tornado zone.”

  3. Lefties on twitter are even into the act, as this Daily Caller piece points out:

DanFranklin postulated “Never really believed all this global warming talk, but after the earthquake in NZ and today in Japan. Maybe we’ve ruined the world.”

And TeamIanHarding tweeted “While Japan witnessed an earthquake we were talking about the problems that global warming leads to in school. Think. Pray. And change.”

    • This is what happens when you don’t bother to teach people history or the sciences in any truthful and objective fashion. This entire earth is scarred with the results of huge earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions which happened way, way before Henry Ford set up his assembly line or the Oil Barons were pumping crude out of the ground.

You’d think the ignorant asses would at least watch PBS and get them some NOVA or National Geographic info. Too busy staring at Twitter, I suppose.
