The federal government has been abusing the American citizenry for years. In 2009 and 2010, under full Democrat control, the overstep was a statist wilding, an extreme usurpation of our rights and those issues best left to the states. There wasn’t even a pretense that the elected should be accountable to the Constitution or natural law. They made it up as they went along and bragged about it. We are just now finding out the truth about some of the bills passed and it’s not pretty.
Last November the American people lurched back to the right and jerked the reins away from the Democrats in the House. This threw a wrench in the Obama machine that was racing full out to fundamentally change the country. Whew! Just in time, the frogs jumped out of the kettle.
The burden of stopping an arrogant and imperial president rests squarely on the shoulders of the Republican House which has essentially the same leadership that led Republicans off the cliff in the first place. We can hope they will redeem themselves. For me, well, history says it’s hard for full blown elitists to change their ways no matter how much stong tea they claim to drink. I’d love for Speaker Boehner to prove me wrong. So far, so-so. Actually, I too, could cry. The truth is, the only way the Republicans will consistently honor the Constitution and control spending is if they fear the voters.
I have high expectations (hope springs eternal) and among those are that our Republican friends in the House be assertive and bold as opposed to claiming they can’t work their will because Harry Reid’s Senate won’t go along and if they do, the Juggernaut that is Obama will veto their efforts. That’s an excuse and a lame one. Ah, heck, bump it up to a failure of vision for some and cowardice for others. I’m not naming names right now but there is this RINO in Virginia and oh, never mind, for now. There’s a little time yet for him to seek and find redemption. . . or a new job.
It would be easy to forgive a lot of the old failures were Republican leaders to hang very, very tough on spending. Here’s just one idea. Just tossing it out there. How about cutting the budget for the Department of Energy by say 30%. How hard could that be since the DOE is essentially useless. Here’s another: Tell the Department of Education that, hey, you are a total waste of space and money, but we are only going to cut you back to 2007 levels. Oh, if that requires a reduction of staffing, too bad. Start with weakest of the affirmative action hires. The elitists recoil in horror at such suggestions. They just close their eyes, dreaming of Independents while the tea party folks and most Americans are screaming and pointing at the spending. In reality, elitist RINOs are black liars. They love their earmarks and big government.
Well, who can really blame the RINO’s and elitists (me, me!). We Americans lost our way for a long time. We really have to get our arms around this! We became too busy with making money, gathering our toys and cocooning. We were too distracted to face-down the evil that was incrementally stealing our freedom. While we were Xboxing and house flipping, the politicians took the country far down the road of statism.
There is good news friends. We can get it back. . . our honor and our country. Even with no Reagan figure on the horizon, millions of Americans have been awakened and fearing the loss of their country, they are reading about the founders. It’s a messy affair at times, but why should we expect it to be perfect?
For any Democrats who might be peeking in, the news isn’t good. You really should consider joining the people in saving the country from bankruptcy. I know its hard to throw the unions overboard but the job you save may be your own. Got it? I doubt it.
Americans have a chance to restore constitutional governance. This is not a time to go back into our cocoons. We only took the first step last November. We must remind our children, our friends, our neighbors and the congress-critters what it means to be an American. We must return our government to its legitimate functions. We must defeat Obama and elect more Constitutional Conservatives.
How best to return government to the people? Under current circumstances and in consideration of the crisis at hand, there is only one way. It has to be done from inside the Republican party. The old guard has to be pressured and moved aside starting at the precinct level. From the inside, where policy is determined and candidates are chosen, conservatives can push for a government that honors the Constitution.
As were are seeing in Wisconsin, the leftists will not go quietly. The unions are their base and their ground troops. Conservatives must counter union activism with Conservative activism. That means matching them in the precincts, door to door, boots on the ground. Tap, tap, tapping on a keyboard can help spread the news but come election day, blogger narratives do not beat boots on the ground. Just check with Sharon Angle in Nevada.
It’s up to you. Are you going to talk about it or do something about it? Electing Constitutional Conservatives starts at the local precinct level. Seize the moment. Preserve the American legacy of freedom and individualism by working from inside the Republican party.
