The mass shootings in El Paso Texas and Dayton Ohio were awful, terrible, horrific tragedies. Innocent men, women, and children were killed or wounded by people that set out to intentionally take innocent lives for reasons we will never fully understand. Shootings like this have happened before and unfortunately will happen again. And again. And again. And they will keep happening until our leaders lay down their own weapons of massively destructive hate speech and divisive rhetoric, and work together to solve this problem.
As fate (or luck if you are an anti-gun liberal) would have it, these most recent shootings took place just in time for every Democrat trying to replace President Trump to put together the best sound bites possible to stoke up the flames of hatred in the hearts and minds of the people they think will help them get elected.
Given the opportunity to put forth their “bold new” ideas on better ways to prevent these things from ever happening again, they chose, instead, to blame the NRA. They chose to blame Fox News. They chose to blame the President and call him a racist and a white nationalist… Allowing the nuanced implication that Donald Trump was no different than Adolf Hitler to float freely in the wind… And amp up the anger and hate in the hearts and under-educated mush-minds of their rabid supporters.
Of note, they had nothing to say about the Dayton shooter being a fanatical socialist and supporter of Elizabeth Warren. They chose only to discuss the El Paso shooting because, in that case, the shooter’s politics were anti-illegal-immigration… And they could blame Trump for inspiring it. Which, of course, conveniently, nobody can prove or disprove regardless of how hard they might try.
These people are not presidents. These are not qualities America wants or needs in their next president, and frankly, each and every one of them should withdraw from consideration. Although they won’t be, they should be ashamed of themselves. Should any of them get elected in 2020 there is a 100% guarantee that the problems this country faces today will become much much worse.
Love or hate President Trump, he is the sitting president trying to do his job and lead the American people through a time of crisis. It’s what we pay him for. Every effort on the part of these Democrat candidates to undermine the president during a time of sadness and loss only shows that their concern is for themselves and their own political aspirations and not for the needs of the victims and their families.
Cynical and self-absorbed political aspiration is what created the swamp currently operating in the house and the Senate. None of these people should be allowed to let that spill over into the White House.
