Give me, my God, what you still have;
give me what no one asks for.
I do not ask for wealth, nor success,
nor even health.

People ask you so often, God, for all that,
that you cannot have any left.
Give me, my God, what you still have.
Give me what people refuse to accept from you.
I want insecurity and disquietude;
I want turmoil and brawl.

And if you should give them to me,

my God, once and for all,
let me be sure to have them always,
for I will not always
have the courage to ask for them.

    As we pray for the consolation of their families, we look high and low for some manner of doing so, realizing this:

    “All died 21 September, 2013 at Forward Operating Base Shank, in Paktia Province, at the hands of Afghan Army soldiers while conducting rifle training”

    …….. but in the end, they did their duty, as US soldiers always do.

  2. Bring them home…May God comfort their families and friends.

  3. Bill Nevins says:

    As Sgt Liam J Nevins’s funeral took place in Denver CO on Wed 10/2/2013, his father received a menacing and insulting text message from James Scott of the Colorado National Guard, and the following day James Scott, weekend warrior, again insulted Prof. Bill Nevins on James Scott’s Facebook page. This has been reported to the Adjutant General Colorado National Guard. Why James Scott decided to disrupt the funeral service for Liam Nevins is unknown.

  4. Liam Nevins was a true American Hero!! God Bless Him and God Bless James Scott and all the other Weekend Warriors who risk their lives, and sacrifice their time with their families so that we have the freedom to do or say as we please.
