Last week, I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Mr. Mike Farris, Chancellor of Patrick Henry College, to discuss the very serious matter of saving America from tyranny, called the Convention of the States. I know that a large portion of the public couldn’t possibly envision getting the number of States needed to challenge our current monstrosity of federal government, however, it can be done.
Presently, there are 27 Legislatures that are primed with conservatives and like-minded fellows, and we need 34 to call a Convention. So, as I have said many times since the election of 2012, it is in the States that our fight – the fight of the American people against an overbearing, over-reaching federal government – is to be found. The biggest question we face, “how do we get the leftist States to buy in?” The answer, of course, is their greed. They will want a big portion of the almost 40% of taxes consumed by Washington, DC to be under their control. Will they help us get to the Convention? No, but will they buy in if we get there? More than likely, yes.
So What is the Convention of the States?
“We see four major abuses perpetrated by the federal government.
These abuses are not mere instances of bad policy. They are driving us towards an age of “soft tyranny” in which the government does not shatter men’s wills but “softens, bends, and guides” them. If we do nothing to halt these abuses, we run the risk of becoming, as Alexis de Tocquevill warned in 1840, nothing more than “a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.” (Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America, 1840)”
Who has the legitimate power to make law?
“The Founders believed that the structures of a limited government would provide the greatest protection of liberty. There were to be specific enumerated powers which the government could not exceed. There were to be checks and balances at the federal level. And everything not specifically granted to Congress for legislative control was to be left to the states. Collusion among the decision makers in Washington, D.C., has replaced these checks and balances. And the federal judiciary supports the Congress and the White House in its every escalating attack upon the jurisdiction of the states.”
Our fight is now, the time is neigh and there is no time to dilly dally, it is incumbent upon We The People to fight back against the tyranny coming from America’s political class – now called “The Ruling Class.” When 25% of gross domestic product (which you and I labor for), washes through Washington, DC, only to be given to favored businesses and politicians, the end is near. I am ready for the battle against the government through my State of Virginia, are you?
The Convention of the States has a political call to action as follows:
“The leadership of the COS Project believes the success of a convention of states depends to a large extent on the American citizens. Our plan is as follows:
1. We seek to have a viable political operation that is active in at least 40 states.
2. Initially, we will focus on those 40 states, which have approximately 4000 state house districts. Our goal is to have a viable political operation in at least 3000 of these districts.
3. We will have 3000 district captains who will organize at least 100 people in each district to contact their legislator to support a convention of the states, and turn out at least 25 people per district at legislative hearings.
Legislators must know that our grassroots team will have their backs if they support a convention of the states. A widespread grassroots organization has been missing from the Article V movement. CSG’s President,
Mark Meckler, was the co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots—one of the largest tea party groups in the country. Michael Farris is the founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association. As such, he brings with him over 30 years of grassroots leadership and activism in all 50 states. We are rapidly building not only a staff for this project, but networking with like-minded coalition members who will support this project once they see it up and running.
We believe that our unique application strategy combined with strong grassroots support will guarantee the success of this Project.
Only one question remains. Will you help us?
I say again are you ready to become that fighter/fighters in your State?
I encourage you to print off many copies of the Application for a convention of the States Under Article V of the U.S. Constitution
Start going to your state legislators and handing them a copy, let them know you will be following up and keeping track of who is on board. Be courteous, but be serious. Let them know that you are done with the federal government destroying America, and that we are a Republic and it is incumbent upon them to stand up for our Republic.
